Cabelas Marlin 1895 410 shotgun

Post by dsmith512 »

Thanks to the post here about the Cabelas Flyer, and after several days of locating one. I was able to get an Marlin 1895 410 shotgun. I have been looking for one for about 2 years. Here's a quick pic of the gun. Better pics to follow.

The good news:
I really like the finish of the stock. It's coloring is much better than my guide gun or 44mag. However the traditional Marlin Bullseye is missing.
The HiViz sights are also excellent. It shoots well and my 12 year old son sure likes it.

The bad news.
The gun fails to eject the shells. It is a five shot and all rounds fail to eject except the last one. If you cycle the action fast or slow it does not matter.
It seems the extractor releases the shell just prior to hitting the ejection spring. Could it be a weak extraction spring or could something be wrong with the ejection spring, or both? Or something else considering the last shell ejects fine. Any solutions from yall would be appreciated.

I would think it is a faulty extractor. I had a problem with my .308MX at first. I thought it was just new and tight but shells would jam as if they were binding as they entered the chamber. I pulled the bolt and took a good look at the extractor, the bottom edge was just square and the case rim was having a problem sliping under it.I could have stoned it a little but I keep a couple extras on hand so I just replaced it. Operates slick as butter now. Sounds like yours is a little too loose. Also try a different brand of ammo, some shotgun ammo brands are very different in size of the rim. Good luck. :D

Hmmm , I've had one of these for about 3 years now and it's still new and unfired !

Perhaps I had better fire mine to make sure there are no hiccups
