Was at a gun show this weekend and was really impressed by the variety and quality of the leverguns there. As I was leaving to go have dinner with a friend, I saw a Browning 92 I had somehow missed the whole day. I am guessing the dealer bought it from a walk-in. .44 Mag with a price tag of $425 (which with this dealer means at least $50 less OTD). I was stoked until I picked it up. It was covered by light pitting over much of the external metal surfaces. Looked like it had been stored wet in a gun case. Mechanically, it was perfect.
Boy, was I bummed. I was still tempted to haggle with him and try and get it for $300, but decided I'd better not spend the money, as business is still slow. What a shame for such a nice gun to get treated like that! Put a bit of a damper on an otherwise great day.

Had a similar experience last weekend at show also.
Was stopped cold by a Win. 94 Legacy .44 mag. with a 475.00 price tag. Then I picked it up. Same thing, rust everywhere and the mag tube had been dented and poorly fixed. Too bad. Was a neat looking rifle.

Get it for $350, bead blast it, hard chrome or matt blue, drill for Williams sight and hunt the heck out of it, great little deer/rambling rifle, Truck gun for your Hummer? Glad I wasn't there, too much temptation.

I might have tried something like that if I didn't already have a nice Marlin pre-safety 1894 in 44 Mag. However, I didn't need to spend the money and I've seen some very nice 44 Brownings sell for only a couple hundred more on the auction sites.
I don't know the guy's contact info. Guess I could have gotten his card, but I don't need the temptation either. I am dying to know what he paid for it, though. Knowing him, he got it from someone for $200. Now, at THAT price, it would have come home with me.
