Looking at a Low Wall - Need Opinions

Post by Killer Kanuck »

Never really thought about picking up an 1885, but I had one offered in trade, and I know next to nothing about them.
First of all, it's refinished steel and more than likely refinished or replaced wood. Barrel is original but has been lined with a Parker Hale barrel and is now 22 Hornet (excellent bore). 24" barrel, and I'll probably pass on the sights to avoid throwing cash in on the trade (was thinking a Malcolm style scope would look nice on it). Any ideas on what a value for trade would be would be appreciated.

It sure is purty, but I just priced .22 Hornets at my local hardware store today and they were $42 a box for 50.

No idea on trade value but I sure wouldn't pass if it were offered to me at a nice price, especially if it's a Hornet...

Prvi Partizan runs about $20/50 and shoots real nice in my Handi-Rifle.
If these walls could talk, I'd listen to the floor.

The cost of ammo doesn't bother me (I reload), but I curious as to what a refinished gun like this would be worth. The seller's interested in a 1901 Winchester I have (and some 1887 parts) and I'm trying to figure out if it's a square deal.

marlinman93 is very knowledgable on vintage single shot rifles. Unfortunately, he can't access this site but it may be worthwhile trying to PM him. You should be able to find him here: http://www.marlinowners.com/forums/inde ... ,12.0.html

I paid $400 Australian for a much plainer, refinished (metal only) Low Wall in .22 WCF. I thought that was dirt cheap.
