I was googling around looking for a pic of Dixon's rifle of Adobe Wells fame..haven't found one yet but did come up with these freebies.. Have at 'em boys!

Billy Dixon was liked and respected as a Lawman when in Dodge. The Old Timers I knew as a kid had parents alive back in the days of the cattle drives, and Dixon and Luke Short were respected by the people who knew them.

Interesting link.. Dixon said in his book page 235 Olds' gun discharged accidently as he came down a ladder and that Mrs. Olds at the same instant the ran in from another room to see her husband roll off the ladder and crumple at her feet..Didn't say anything about Mrs. Olds handing him a loaded rifle as was said in the info from the link.
The thing I like Mayers' book over Dixon's is the greater detail he goes into about his methods hunting, shooting & loading and details about his gear. Both books are neat reads.

I'm still not done with the Billy Dixon story.

it sure would make a great movie, if it was made just like it's written in this book.
