It's amazing how long it takes to get high speed to the rural areas.

Is it satellite? Our neighbor's satellite wouldn't work reliably, and we asked several satellite companies if they'd come out BEFORE we signed a contract and advise us where we'd need the dish, or if they could even get their satellite from our house (due to hills) but they all said they won't come out until you sign for a year's service. How can you sign for a year's service if you can't get a signal?

No it is not satellite, it uses a broadband signal via a Bell Canada cell tower, seems to work ok, the installer checked how good the signal was and if it had been too weak I would not have had to sign up. Signing up for a year if you can't get a signal seems like extortion to me!!

When I moved to the sticks almost two years ago I had to get Hughes satellite internet. It sucks. Not only did I have to almost completely redo the knucklehead's wiring but I'm paying for 1.5Mb and only getting about a third of that. I sure miss the 7Mb connection I had in FL. That's the only thing I miss.
