another 45-70 question

Post by Tennessee Hayre »

I have a question that I should know the anwser to but hear goes. (When a round is placed into the mag tube in the 45-70 guide gun does the bottom of the bolt grab the round to help pull it out of the mag tube when the lever is opened, or is the spring in the tube doing the work). The reason i ask is, when i load several 325 grain flex tips or 540 grain hammerhead and fire one off sometimes ,once the lever is opened to chamber the next round if looks like the next round is stuck half way in the mag tube. I have to use my finger nail to pull the round into the feeder the close the lever to fire again. I have posted this subject once before and have tried putting a plug in the tube and even pointed the rifle up when chambering a new round nothing seems to work.

I think your cartridge stop (at the back side of the magazine) is fouled-up. It should stop more than one cartridge from entering the action at a time.

Just my 2-cent's-worth.
