Antique Cap Gun

Post by Sixgun »

Dudes,
A buddy of mine found this antique cap gun at an estate sale and knowing I like guns gave it to me. It is dated on the right side "Patented March 1887" On the left side, well, you can see what it says.

No..no..no I am not being racial about it. I posted it for the oddity and rareness of it. Not to mention how a company could market such a thing and get away with it. The "head" part of the gun is very detailed. Look where you put the cap.--------------------------Sixgun

Weird that anyone could design something like that, even in those days. :o
The back to front trigger never caught on either!!!!

That's cool. What sort of cap did it take (can you tell)?

I have never seen anything like that.

Back to front trigger? That's weird in of itself.

The hammer is flat faced and it hits on a flat face so I guess the cap used is just a regular cap that we all see today.-----Sixgun

There also seems to be some kind of letters below the hammer. I just can't make out what they say. Can you help?

Rusty,

I cannot completely make out the words, either. They appear to be "racial" naughty words, geared toward demeaning black people.

That is a bizarre toy.

Nice cap guns guys. It's sad not seeing young kids anymore running around with cap guns on their hips. I've seen a couple in the last couple of years, but rare.
