Went to a small local show yesterday just for a "gun show fix," it's been a couple months since I've been to one. This one is quite small, but like all small rural PA shows you never know what to expect.
Case in point: There's only so many laps a person can make of three 60' long aisles, and I was fixin' to shove off after a couple hours of mostly hobnobbing. I noticed this one gentleman had been carrying a variety long guns all morning, and now here he comes with a Savage or Winchester 88 . . . no wait, it's a Ruger 96 of some description!
He applies the brakes for an impromptu family reunion that four guys felt compelled to set up, blocking the aisle. I got right behind him and peeped the rollmarking on the barrel -- 22 Long Rifle -- eggsellent!
OK, cutting to the chase, $325 later it's mine, one mag and Bushnell 1.5X-4.5X variable scope and all. There's no blueing wear, rust, or dents to the furniture. Last evening with the scope set on 1.5 I was chasing a 20 oz plastic pop bottle around between 25 and 40 yards with both cheap Remingtons and Mini-Mags. And I found out that 10/22 mags DO fit and function in the 92/22.

I LOVE these fast-action short throw Rugers!
