Post by RIHMFIRE »

Remember Harry Carey Jr.?
He his one of John Waynes buddys who has been
in countless westerns. Somehow he is connected
7th Voyage Productions. Right now they are looking for a new Lead actor for new western.
"Emerald's Pride."
Dont know the plot or anything like that yet,
but I am sure looking forward to a new western!

Always loved Harey Carey Jr. work in westerns
I think his first roles was in Red River, and saw
him last night in Tom Sellecks movie
Last Stand at Saber River!
I recommend a look at this movie
Harry is one of my favorites!
Along with Ben Johnson, Sam Elliot, Tom Selleck
and of course...John Wayne!

RIHMFIRE,

Harry Carey Jr. must be in his 80s by now, or older maybe. I'm glad he's still around.

Keep us up to date on this movie if you can.

Harry Carey Sr. was John Wayne's mentor along with John Ford. In the last scene of "The Searchers" where Ethan is standing in the door with his arms folded a certain way was a tribute to Carey Sr. His wife was watching off screen and crying. She played the mother, as well as being his real mother, of Harry Carey Jr. in the movie. Her daughter in the movie was in love with Jeff Hunter.

Harry Carey Jr. is 87 years old. He has written a wonderful book about old time Hollywood and the actors he worked with. It is titled "Company of Heros", great reading! I have a personally autographed copy. I believe you still can get one from him for yourself.

I've seen him in more films than I can remember. He's just about the last man standing from that greatest generation of big screen actors. Their kind will never come again.

Oh Pshaw.

IMO, Tom Selleck, Sam Elliott, and Robert Duvall bury 'em all.

Carey Jr. is one of the great western character actors of any age. I think I liked him best as the shave-tail Lt. in "She wore a Yellow Ribbon".

I can never forget the scene where he shares a chaw with Capt. Brittles while they watch the renegades torture the gun-runners. "Care fer a chaw Lieutenant? Been known to make a man sick to his stomach... Yes Sir, I'll take a chaw".

:)

My favorite had to be The Outlaw Josey Wales, following Forrest Carters book Gone to Texas, the second part in the two book series was The Vengence Trail of Josey Wales. I heard the movie was made but was bad. Forrest Carter wrote two other books before his early death, Meet me on the Mountain about the Apache and The Education of Little Tree. Good reads. I would like to see another Clint Eastwood cowboy movie made.

Believe Harry Carey Jr made his debut in "The Three Godfathers," another classic.
