POLITICS - School District Approves Carry by Teachers

Post by Rimfire McNutjob »

I know OI has probably already posted this but I just couldn't find it ...

North Texas school district will let teachers carry guns

Thought is was a gutsy move on their part. They will fade some serious heat on this one.

Nope. You beat me to it.

I've mostly been on the Job Boards this morning.

About time. As "Doc" O'Meara noted this morning, Israel figured it out 30 years ago.

Thanks for filling in the details. I heard something about it on the radio tonight on the way home from work, but due to the static crashes from the power lines I missed the details. It sounds like a move in the right direction.

I'm only 35 years old, but I swear I remember seeing on the news a pregnant Israeli woman standing out in front of her childrens school with an UZI.

As for the Texas school, I caught that on the morning news. The ABC news guy tried every possible way to paint the superintendent in a bad light. He had a good response for all the questions.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error.

Maybe with all the new "digital" FM stations for music coming along, the decent news and political discussion (which the liberal MSM derogitorially refers to as 'right wing hate radio' or 'talk radio'), can move from AM to regular FM bands.

I'd love to actually hear Neal Boort's show in it's entirety on a regular basis. NPR makes me puke.

Have not heard this today but I sure thank them for taking this giant step to protect the kids.

I would feel safer with my children in classes where the teachers have concealed handguns. I don't believe that a single mass shooting at a school would have been successful in it's entirety if the teachers would have been armed. Yes, one or two may have been shot and maybe killed, but not as many as were killed. We cannot prevent all tragedies, but we should not use that as an excuse for stupidity.

God Bless Texas!

See you Longhorns on the field Sept 13th. (Secertly I've always liked Texas but that stops when we face each other on the field!)

I support this totally. But hopefully those teachers that do decide to carry concealed will not make it known to their classes. Just imagine a couple of troublemakers in a class who tackle the teacher just to get the gun and then create havoc with it. I am a teacher in a public school and would love to be able to carry concealed. Like, for example, a Seecamp in an inside the pocket holster. This would be a discreet package. I could never imagine carrying anything bigger though.

If they know you have it, it ain't concealed.

But assault is assault. Shoot the buggers. They went from "troublemaker" to Violent Criminal the instant they fomented the attack plan.

I saw the School Supt. this morning on FNC. He explained the School Dist. position on Teachers CCW. He was asked how many teachers might be qualified to pack. He would only say that he will be packing and that is one of many.

The school my son attends is 6 miles from the closest town. If the town cop is on duty your looking at 5 minutes to get there. If he is off duty your looking at 25 minutes for the county cop. WAY too long. I have preached for years that staff should be armed, but I just an over cautious alarmist.
