I'm all for the fencing off of San Francisco. But, better yet is to resurrect the State of Jefferson movement (a portion of northern California that wants to break away from the lower 3/4 of the state). I plan on moving there!

Wouldn't it be better to go about 50 miles east of the I-5 and draw the new state north to south? An awful lot of good people live inland in the southern part of the state.....

I didn't make up the State of Jefferson, a mayor in Oregon did. In 1941 Mayor Gable of Port Orford Oregon proposed some of the southern Oregon counties merge with some northern California counties to form the 51st state, Jefferson. (Wikipedia)
Actually most of the problems with California are originated in the "Big Three"; LA, San Francisco, and Sacramento, IMHO, and the millions of people elsewhere is the state must suffer.

I was raised in Long Beach, but left Calif in 1974, never to return. If "Jefferson" were to become a reality, I very well might return. The northern coast towns of California, as well anything north of Sacramento is pretty hard to beat for scenery, hunting, and mountains to roam in. Once lived in Grass Valley.
