Post by cshold »

Been checking out vintage Zippo lighters.
Man is that ever a big time hobby for some. :o
And I though us gun guys were over the top.
Anyway did Zippo ever make a lighter dedicated to the
Win. 94 or 30-30 or anything like that??

Dad always wanted a Ronson. But never had a place to park it. Though James Garner did a movie about a fellow that owned one.

MANY Zippos were made up aftermarket by some vendor or another. I don't know how the contracts with the mfg went, but it sometimes seem that everything has been commemorated on a Zippo. PLUS the engraved military connection Zippos, some with other addendums like DUIs bring big bucks in some circles.

My grandfather was the car shop foreman for the N&W RR in Princeton, WV. I have a Zippo that he used that was given to him by the Glidden Paint Co. It has their seal on one side and has his name engraved on the other side. He died in 1963 so it's at least that old.

They made them for everything else.

I have two Harleys - they are both Zippo lighters.

Casastahle I have never seen a Winchester Zippo. Remington, Ruger, Smith and Wesson I have seen. I'll ask around and see if anything turns up.

Now here's the one to get (if the Feds don't get you first!)...

“Zippo” Lighter Gun Together with Ronson Flint Dispenser with Ammunition 4mm, the “Zippo” brand lighter, the firing mechanism disguised as a normal lighter, the barrel occupying the place of the wick, the flint striking wheel acting as the trigger.

Sold together with faux Ronson flint dispenser containing 8 individual copper-cased 6mm cartridges.

2ndovc beat me too it. But he forgot to mention that the Zippo Museum shares space with the Case knife museum. It's well worth an hour or two if you are ever in the area (north-central PA).
