humor-the tiny cabin
A Democrat social worker from Massachusetts recently transferred to the mountains of North Georgia was on the first tour of his new territory when he came upon the tiniest cabin he had ever seen in his life. Intrigued, he went up and knocked on the door. 'Anybody home?' he asked. 'Yep,' came a kid's voice through the door.
'Is your father there?' asked the social worker. 'Pa? Nope, he left afore Ma came in,' said the kid.
'Well, is your mother there?' persisted the social worker. 'Ma? Nope, she left just afore I got here,' said the kid.
'But,' protested the social worker, 'are you never together as a family?'
'Sure, but not here,' said the kid through the door. 'This is the outhouse!'

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Went to a buddys house. I noticed a big pile of red corn cobs and a small batch of white ones at the outhouse and asked him about it. He said the white ones were to check with.

We went to visit my Great Grandmother in Harrelsville, NC in the late 1940s and while my Sister was using the outhouse, she saw a snake
-- or so she claimed. My Dad never found it. Anyway, for the rest of the visit, my Sister refused to use the outhouse and after holding it for as long as she could, she'd go down the block to the local grocery/general store that had indoor plumbing to use their bathroom during the daytime. At night she used a pan under the bed as the rest of us did.

It would be nice to get back to the simple things in life, but not too sure about everyday use of an outhouse.

Up till the early 50s before we had indoor plumbing. Of course no AC. Those 2 things are the biggest improvements in these days as far as I am concened! Wisconsin at -25 in winter and so hot and humid in summer you couldnt breath, sweat like a hog and get gaulled! Dont miss that part! Now, if they could figuer how to get rid of the mesquitos.

My family used them up until 1985. I sure don't miss them. In the winter, you had to bust the ice so you could leave a "deposit" and in the middle of a hot summer, the smell was not so very pleasant. If I knew what I know now, I sure would have loved to insulate that outhouse.
