Price Check on a 39A Golden

Post by TCB in TN »

Hey guys, I need a price check on a 1977 Marlin 39A Golden. It is about an 85% wood and metal, but the rear sight and tube have been replaced with new stuff. Action is tight, and shoots clean and straight. Guy has it priced at $325. What do you think?

I think that $325 is reasonable. Not a great price, but fair. You should try to move it down a bit but you shouldn't feel badly for that price.
Sincerely,

Hobie

I gave $300 for mine about 5 years ago. It was like new at the time.

I've overpaid for a couple 39s, but they are still better than the new ones, IMO. They don't get nice to shoot until they've got about that old. I've a '64 M that is just breaking in and is a perfect shooter, if not looker........

Two or three years ago would have been outrageous, but now, not too over the top. Depends on your local conditions and how bad you want it. :)

Guess I am just going to have to get it. I have seen some newer ones for sale around the same money, but they were the longer barreled versions. This little gun feels just like my 39A Golden mountie and shoots just like it too! I have wanted another for some time, so I will just have to add it to the family.

Went back and talked to the guy today and made him an offer, ended up getting it for $275. I am very pleased. :D Only problem is that both of my boys are trying to take it away from me now!

Had a chance to wring her out today and boy am I happy, Bustin 2 in ceramic balls at 40yards one after the other. Clover leafed several groups at 50yards, put holes in a few quarters for fun. My oldest put a hole in one too, first time he ever tried it, and he was tickled to death. I learned to shoot with a little 39A golden mountie and I thought it was the best shooting rifle I ever held (still have it), but I'm not sure this one isn't better. :D Now the oldest is REALLY trying to still her. Told him that we would start looking for him one too! :) It is great seeing your children develop such good taste!
