OT - Little round cardboard thing in RCBS Dies??
Every time that I buy an RCBS reloading die set, it comes with a little round piece of cardboard that appears to be the diameter of the die.
My latest set was a .45-70 "Cowboy" die set for my Marlin 1873's big lead warheads. It came with an uncharacteristic square piece of cardboard, bigger than the diameter of the die.
Why do those folks always put a piece of cardboard in the box with their product? Did they pray over it, or what?

It is treated with a rust preventative.

You'd think they would treat the dies with a rust preventative. I've never seen cardboard rust.

I wish I had $20 for every time I heard the gun show pferdscheisse urban legend about that cardboard disc being "a spacer gage for setting the resizing die."
+1 on the disc being treated with Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor. Problem is, after a couple years the vapor phase inhibitor is pretty much depleted and dies start rusting if not stored properly.

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .
