Marlin 336 Price Check

Post by cnjarvis »

Hey all,

I'm going to head by a local pawn shop to look at a Marlin 336 they have and was wondering if I could get some advice on value.

I do not know the date of Mfg. but the gun appears to be at least 20 years old. It has walnut stocks, no crossbolt safety that I noticed and a ramped front sight. The bluing on the barrel is probably 75-80% but the bluing on the receiver is probably around 25-30% and there may be some rust. The wood looks like it may have been refinished at some point. I have no idea what the bore condition is.

I'm not looking for anything special, just a truck gun that I don't have to worry about and that I can loan to my BIL when he's here to hunt.

What should I be looking at paying for such a rifle?

I'd say 200, at the outside... Offer 175 and see what happens.

Thanks Guys. I was thinking $175 would be tops. Asking price is $230.

Anyone else care to post an opinion? I'm leaving to go there in about 15 min.
