Another Range Report - Three Amigos in .45lc

Post by rjohns94 »

As you can tell, I have been in the mood to get some shooting done so I broke out the three amigos and took them to the range today also. A bit about the pistols: The far right pistol is my Freedom Arms Premier 5 1/2" octagon barrel, has a bead front sight and a shallow v adjustable rear. The fit and balance of this pistol is amazing. It has to rank as one of my all time favorites. The Bond Derringer in the middle is one of my carry pistols. Its in .45lc and .410, and is called the Snake Slayer. I have a holster for it and when I am out walking in the woods, or in my canoe, I carry it with 3" .410 #9 for snakes. The pistol on the left is my USFA 4 1/4" 45lc. I REALLY like this pistol. I have ordered a Shark Skin simply rugged holster for this one.

I started with shooting the derringer today with my reloads. The top barrel shoots about 6 inches high at 7 yards, the bottom barrel shoots dead on. All the shots (about 20) went into two groups of about 4 inches, looking like a disjointed 8 on the target at 7 yards. I didn't shoot it at any longer range.

I shot the Freedom Arms next at 25 yards. The first 5 shots I used PMC factory ammo I had left. 2.5" group centered a bit left and low. The next 15 -20 shots, went to about 4 inches and were consistantly just a little left.

Next was the USFA. I shot it at 7 yards at first. 6 shots in 2 inches dead center. Moved the target out to 20 yards and the next 30 shots pretty much were dead on and covered the five different spots on the target with 6 shots a piece. I was simply thrilled with this.

Here is a shot of the three amigos, the reason I reload .45lc:

Mike those are some sweet looking shooters. The FA is a show stopper!

I'd love to know how it shoots with some real "Bear Killer" loads.

How do you like the Bond .45? Those things seem so darned big. I've never handled one but it looks as big as
my Glock 26.

Been enjoying the range reports. That Sharps is a Beauty. I was watching it on GunBroker. Glad someone Here got it. That one's a real trophy!!

Jason, thanks. I really like the Bond with shot shells and I have even shot some clay birds with it. I may even try it in the dove fields in just over a month. The freedom arms is a shooter and handles the hot stuff very well. I have put corbon +P ammo through it and it really drilled some nice groups at 25yards. I carry it with some stout Elmer Keith loads in the field.
