OT: Something to cheer you up!

Post by LeverBob »

I'm sittin' here listening to Les Brown & His Band of Renown (Doris Day singing) reading this report & John Majors' (Aussie) speech to the muslim world. Thought I might share the latest from the front:

'The most senior Taliban commander in Afghanistan's wartorn Helmand province has given himself up because he feared being killed by British special forces. (What a coward  ).

The news will be a massive blow to insurgent forces. (Ha...we're just gettin' started! )

Mullah Rahim surrendered to authorities in Pakistan, the Ministry of Defence said last night. Rahim - thought to be one of the five main Taliban commanders - is reported to have handed himself in to Pakistani police near the border and is being held in the town of Quetta. (He probably soiled himself  (.

The success of a Nato campaign directly targeting the Taliban leadership has led to hopes that a power vacuum at the top has weakened the group. Hours after Rahim turned himself in, British forces killed their third senior Taliban leader in little more than three weeks. Top British commanders said Rahim's surrender was a massive breakthrough that would plunge militants in Helmand into disarray. (If only the rest of the nation was like this & Nath, Gamekeeper, etc. ).

Forces spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Robin Matthews said last night: 'The Taliban's senior leadership structure has suffered a shattering blow. They remain a dangerous enemy, but they increasingly lack strategic direction and their proposition to the Afghan people-is proving ultimately negativeand self-defeating.' (Read this in Queens' English aloud with a little British accent!)

Gulab Mangal, Governor of Helmand, urged militiamen to join the Government side.' ((Yeah right...now that the tough stuff is done... :x ).

Col. Matthews is a stone cold stud...my kinda guy! To all the negative people...we will win...period. We won Heller vs. DC...I could go one forever with all our wins. Our real fight is right at home, for all of us...let's get busy & make a lot of trouble for the devil.

To Nath, Gamekeeper, Gundownunder...all the chaps, mates & the yanks: there's only this to say: Get busy...liberty calls my brothers & sisters. If we do, we can't lose.

I just love it when a plan comes together!! 8)

G-D bless y'all...life is great!!!!!

Always good to hear that progress is being made over there. We have lost a few good men there in the last few weeks. Mainly from the Parachute Regiment.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

Next to the U.S., British forces are the MOST proactive members in NATO. I can't say much for the others

With the vast majority of the media being predominantly leftist and anti-American in their coverage, and reports of many voters who are swallowing their swill, I for one really needed these little tidbits.

Thanks for this info. It made my day.
