Been putting in some range time

Post by Bruce Scott »

...and this is where I'm at.

This will give me 100 metres with the firing point just forward of the Salmon Gum (tree) in the right foreground. There was a natural fire lane through the bush that I widened by cutting back some trees, pushing a few over and burning out stumps and logs. The stop-butt is made from topsoil scraped off before my house pad went down. It was dumped in close heaps that I just finished shifting to give better width. Ripping the ground will hopefully inhibit regrowth of scub and reduce the liklehood of rics.

Looks like you have put in some time on that one.

Excellent!

I can't make out if that's a road or a stream crossing the rear of your backstop.

If it's a road, maybe you could put a sign, somewhere, diverting political parades & rallies down there, at opportune times, of course. ;)

A gun club I once was an officer of had an often-canoed stream in the same situation.
Our "Range Rules" were that all firing had to cease until the watercraft were cleared.
We posted "warning" sings on the water sides/ends, too.

There is a winter creek behind the backstop, although what you can see is more likely the salt pan on the other side of it.

That is really nice! Better get the targets up and at least one bench before the wife thinks you made her a flower garden.
