Winchester 22 rifle, model 9200. Stunning Davidson 410 gauge antique rifle ; it has lots of scrimshaw work and checkering. Authentic Civil War sword, Boyle & Gamble.
Anything interesting?
Didn't go yet, we signed up to receive notice when they were having them. We get notices every week but not all the sales look interesting.
For prices, they seem to do a REALLY good job of finding the correct price things are going for, in other words almost nothing is a "steal" unless it's little piddly stuff or perhaps something that it' hard to find a value on. But they seem to have people who are good at researching to set the prices.
Now then, if stuff makes it to the second day, you'll find 'everything' 25% off. They also start to get looser about 'package deals', where you pile up a bunch of stuff and usually they'll make a great price on the bundle without paying too much attention to the prices they had decided on (which are not marked by the way, you have to ask). By the third day in theory it's down to 50 percent, but they do get a lot easier too.
Guns don't live long enough to even find out the price, in my very limited experience (two sales so far that I went to had guns) unless they're stuff you'd take only if it was given free. They seem to go before we make it to the sale if they're worth paying for.
Deals can be had, however. I got a LazyBoy for $15. Lots of tools, benches, a door to make a workbench out of, for just about nothing. A Honda riding mower for $200 (and that was one they weren't playing the price on- he insisted on getting $200 and there were enough people looking he was going to get it).
I got a BRAND NEW Dell laptop that cost $1,000, for $525, but that was because the lady that bought it brought it back and I was standing there. She'd been trying to "get her money back" from Dell, without being the one that owned it, and when that didn't work, she didn't want to fool with it. Me, I took a chance and bought it, and then after I made it mine on their website, I asked if I could upgrade it. They sent me a brand new one and I sent back this one. They DID know the situation, I didn't cheat them.
So now I have a $1,400 laptop I got for $525 that I still don't need. Anybody want to buy a laptop?
I didn't buy anything, as I said we haven't been to the sale yet. If the sword (or shotgun) are still there when we get there, what would they be worth?
if this is the shotgun i think it is, they were imported by davidsons in greensboro Nc, back in the 60'sand 70'sand were well made, inexpensive spanish guns, but were always considered good buys as they were well balanced and good steels; they dont bring a lot of $ but are very serviceable, well balanced guns. here is one that is beat up a bit; i think there were two grades, one a bit fancier. not really valuable, but if cheap enough then a very good buy if in very good shape!
