My friend came home from the toy store dragging in this Savage. It is a 25-35 1899 model, we are unsure of the exact lineage. It has the 20" lightweight barrel, straight stock with steel buttplate, all original sights, etc, although we think the buttstock may have been monkeyed with. Barrel markings are: Manufactured by Savage Arms Company, Utica, NY USA Patent Feb 7, 1893 July 25, 1893, Oct 3 1899, May 25, 1909, June 1, 1909, Savage High-Pressure Steel, Model 1899. There is no A, B, C, etc in the model number. Serial number is 117343.
The bore is good and he looks forward to busting some prairie dogs with it. I got dibs on going along!!
Would like to have comments from knowledgeable members regarding the manufacturing history on this rifle or other info regarding the exact model number, etc, Blue Book is somewhat confusing. Thanks.
