Marlin 336-44

Post by 6pt-sika »

I've had this one for awhile now !

It's a Marlin 336-44 that was manufactured in 1967 . Got this one as a matter of fact from a member in North Carolina .

And a couple days ago I mounted this nice old Weaver K2.5 on top .

I think in the next month or so , this one is going to get a steady diet of Ranch Dog 265 and 300 grain bullets until I find a load for each bullet that satisfies me for shooting deer .

I like to think so :)

Now if I can find a 336T in 30-30 and another 336T in 35 that were made between 1965 and 1971 . Well you know how that goes !

Sweet!

It makes me miss the '94SS I traded in for my .308 MX.

Now don't get me wrong. I love my .308. Wouldn't give it up for anything (well, almost).

But I'm due to inherit a 336 in .30-30 late this summer. I already have a Winnie '94 in .30-30, so I don't need another one.

You got me thinking...

Maybe I can find a 336 in .44 over at GunBroker! :D

You have a long row to hoe, 6pt !

That 20" .44 Texan looks like a nice start, though ! (only 13,895 made)

Now, ya need a "few" more, to complete your set.

Model 336T (Texan) - (1954-1983).30-30, .35, or .44 Mag (65-67 only), 18 1/2" (1983 only) or 20" barrel, saddle ring (65-71 only)

Model 336DT (Deluxe Texan) - (62-62).30-30 or .35, select wood, Carved map of Texas on butt.

Model 336TS (Texan w/safety) - (84-87) .30-30, 18 1/2" barrel, squared loop, crossbolt safety.

Model 336 Marauder - (63-64) .30-30 or .35, 16 1/4" barrel (5856 made)

Pete , but even if I find and purchase a couple of the 336T's . Then I need to scratch around and find a couple more old Weaver K2.5's or K3's !

It's a never ending thing

Well, ifn you can't find the mates for the 44mag, you can just go ahead and ship her to me. I got 3 or 4 44mag levers, that'll love it like a brother.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.
