When my Dad was a little boy her found this powder horn in the woods near his home in Philadelphia. I had it stored away in a box for many years, and just "rediscovered it".
As you can see, years have not been kind to this, but who knows what history this thing has seen?
Thought you all would enjoy this (actually, you can thank my son, "Ysabel Kid's Kid" - as soon as I found this again and showed it to him he said "you need to post pictures of that on Leverguns!" )
Have you contacted the local museums in that area to determine its historical context? brandywine museum/battlefield and such may provide clues to some of the stories it holds in its lines. regimental action based on location of the find could review clues to its origin.
