I posted this question about a week ago under a different subject and Hobie suggested I re-post it to get better exposure. I told him I would do that night, but I have been extremely busy. I am at my parent's house in Nebraska and I am helping them around the house as well as getting tours of the surrounding area from my folks. Sorry about that. Now, on to the question.
My Father has a Marlin 39a that was given to him years ago by a friend who couldn't get it to work. He tried to fix it but doesn't know much gunsmithing. I found it in his safe and asked if I could take care of it for him. I checked it out and looked at the parts breakdown in the manual. It looks to me that the carrier is missing, along with various screws. I am hoping that someone here can take a look at the pictures and tell me if I am right.
I had some very good responses to my last post and got some good information. I even got a pm from jdad giving me excellent info regarding sending it in to Marlin. I will probably do that, but have a question about that as well. If I send the pieces to Marlin and have them turn it back into a functioning firearm, does it have to be returned to an FFL holder? I am in California if that matters. Also will that be effected by the new Ca. laws about shipping firearms to Ca.?
Anyway, on to the pics!
this is just the action itself

this is both sides of the action

and finally, everything that I have.

Thanks everybody!
John
