Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
mescalero1 recently asked for some help in posting something about the ANWR Please Help. Well I got this from another forum member, and decided to go ahead; hope this is the right one:
FIRST. Do you know what ANWR is?
ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Now. A Comparison
And some perspective.
NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS.
(It's in the "ANWR Coastal Plain")
This is what the Democrats, liberals and environmentalists show you when they talk about ANWR;
...and they are right. These ARE photograph of ANWR.
Isn't ANWR beautiful? Why should we drill here and destroy this beautiful place?
Well, that's not exactly the truth.
Do you remember the map?
The map showed that the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain. Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?
What's going on here?
.
..
...
The answer is simple.
That is NOT where they want to drill!
This is what the proposed exploration area ACTUALLY looks like in the winter
and this is what it ACTUALLY looks like in the summer.
Here are a couple screen shots from Google Earth.
As you can see, the area where they are talking about drilling is barren wasteland.
Oh, and they say that they are concerned about the effect on the local wildlife.
Here is a photo (shot during the summer) of the "depleted wildlife" situation created by drilling around Prudhoe Bay*.
Don't you think that the caribou really hate that drilling?
Here's that same spot during the winter.
Hey, this bear seems to really hate the pipeline near Prudhoe Bay*.
*The Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production
Now, why do you think that the Democrats are not telling the truth about ANWR?
Remember when Al Gore said that the Government should work to ARTIFICIALLY raise gas prices to $5.00 a gallon?
Well... Al Gore and his fellow Democrats have almost reached their goal!
Now that you know that the Democrats have not been honest, what are you going to do about it?
You can start by forwarding this everyone you know so that they will know the truth.
However, before you do, please note where the majority of the oil from the Alaska Pipeline is sent. Not to the US. It is exported and processed overseas.

BTT.
Very good stuff. I copied and pasted it into several emails. One to family, one to friends, and one to my senators. Hopefully it'll help.

Thanks for that. I'll help get this around. Talk show hosts like Glenn Beck and Dennis Miller and Rush and Sean have the biggest pipelines out there. I never can get thru, I hope someone here can...
Amazing, the truth in plain sight. McCaine's campaign can use this stuff too.. I wonder they get there info.

Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
What burns me , if this factual; is that I actually had sympathy for the people that were against drilling.
I thought drilling was going to take place over a vast area of wildlife sanctuary.
This is nothing like I was led to believe, I usually do not fall for bovine scatology, but I got " spun " on this one.
Once again Griff, thank you.

Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
I got this via e-mail myself. I have a friend who has been there hunting before it was a reserve. Said that winter was actually the best season, as the mosquitos are horrendous during the brief summer, and the area is a marsh. Caribou can lose over a pint of blood a day to the little suckers. Yep, we sure do need to protect something like that from - gasp - a few oil platforms and associated buildings!
Gore - your village has been calling - they are missing your services!!!

Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
ah, well, consider the source...I usually do not fall for bovine scatology
what are the probabilities that ANYTHING said by reid or pelosi or gore or any other politician is actually true?
what are the odds that anything you see on t.v. is true?
JUST ABOUT EXACTLY ZERO
Seriously, when they open their mouths lies come out as surely as day follows night. (or is it 'night follows day'? whatever)
Did any of those blood-suckers ever say anything that was true? Probably not on purpose.
Every one of that coalition denying Americans access to American resources is a lying traitor. Too bad the toweltops missed them.
Never, ever believe a single thing they say, unless there are RELIABLE and UNINPEACHEABLE WITNESSES to corroborate them. The safe bet is that they are lying if their lips are moving.
PS: Just about everybody in Alaskan towns knows this information is true, and just about all the natives on the arctic plain want the oil to be pumped. But just about most of the airheads in Anchorage and Juneau are opposed to harvesting our resources. It's nuts, that's what it is.

Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
Nice summary.
I have a few issues though. Having been there, done that and explored ANWR for 7 years of my career, I have a detailed knowledge of where the likely spots for the oil are. Your location pin in the 1002 region is great for PT Thompson field and maybe the downdip turbidites but you cannot get the best prospects from there. To far north on the coastal area. I wrote up a long description of where you should put your pins, but I figured that was company confidential information after I read it. One of those "this is stupid" moments. I will say I agree with you that the 1002 plain is a barren wasteland of zero value.
I always said that anyone who wants to save it, should have to walk from the coast to the foothills in the summer time and see if they can survive the bugs. I remember they were thick and would even clog the chopper.
By the way, have you read the 1002 section of the ANWR law? Interesting read.
Want some real humor? Read the congressional record on when they were working on TAPS and read the part where the greenies were saying run the pipeline through 1002 because it is a worthless areas.
Now it is the American Serengeti. Funny how 40 years changes the perspective.

Only kind of exploration and drilling those commie Democraps are going to allow will be this:
After Obama is elected, we'll all be on the receiving end of the tax drilling as well!

Yes he can windfall tax us, but we will just pass the price on to consumers. Not much else we can do but pass our costs on to the users of our products. With an 8% profit margin, there is not much fat left in the cash flow given what Wall Street wants to get out of us.
I see we are at $144 no, just checked, $145 a barrel.
Truly amazing when you think that 10 years ago, the average price of a barrel was $11.91.

I think it's really important to realize that oil is the commodity substitute for greenbacks now, similar to when we had a gold-backed currency. Now gold is lagging far behind as the commodity of choice to preserve capital. Capital is going into oil. Capital is going into oil BECAUSE the value of the dollar is declining.
It's because the dotgov refused to back a strong dollar and allowed our currency to be abused by soros and the pu, er, eu.
Another way to say this is that the dollar has been commoditized with oil. It's the refuge that protects against further decreases in the value of the dollar.
Now, the instant, well, nearly instant way, and only way, to break that cycle is to DRILL, DRILL, DRILL,and PUMP, PUMP, PUMP
This will create more jobs than you can imagine. It will take the speculation out of the oil market because the dollar WILL HAVE ENCREDIBLE STRENGTH when we no longer have to suck up to arabs and we STOP SENDING ALL OUR MONEY TO THEM. That will be the moment when our fortunes increase, and theirs will decrease, AND the value of the dollar will be strong again.
It's the ability and opportunity for our nation to change in a way that benefit everyone onboard, even the whiners and complainers and 'can't drillers'. AND I GARANFLATTEE YOU
THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO TAX AND DECLINE AND WINDMILL OUR WAY TO GREATNESS AND A HEALTHY ECONOMY.

Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
Grizz,
My econ is a bit rusty, so I may be in error in this.
My take is Brenneke has to save wall street from the mortgage implosion that would take out a bunch of wall street banks if he did not do something. His only choice is to print money like it is going out of style so he devalues the currency and this allows him to keep a low interest rate and folks can pay back the loans with worthless money. The net effect is the price of everything goes up and we enter a period of stagflation just like the Carter days. Now we see the re-incarnation of the carter era politics and money policies.
What it will take to solve the price run up for oil is a strong dollar. But we can't have a strong dollar without deflation. Deflation kills wall street which is why we want inflation, but this whole mess is because we are trying to save wall street in the first place.
So what is the solution? Runaway inflation and a massive devaluation of the dollar on one hand or sacrifice wall street and take on the depression that we are do for on the other.
My bet is Brenneke will go for the 20% per year inflation, Carter era money policies and save wall street.
Where is Paul Volker when we need him?

Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
I think this is in line, but a lot has changed since then. For one, our GDP has probably doubled since then. For another, there are huge middle classes in china and india that were nascent then. And another is the euro didn't exist then, and soros wasn't actively trying to bankrupt America. What it will take to solve the price run up for oil is a strong dollar. But we can't have a strong dollar without deflation. Deflation kills wall street which is why we want inflation, but this whole mess is because we are trying to save wall street in the first place.
So I think it's a very different picture than it was then. Most of the "losses" in housing are paper losses for many mortgage holders. There are always insolvent contracts on the fringes of everything. The FED turned a blind eye on the malevolant banking practices of the go-go predatory lending, and now we get to enjoy the whirlwind.
I still say the solution is massive efforts to localize our energy production. This employs Americans in America. By massive I mean a hundred new refineries, a hundred new nukes, a hundred geo-thermal steam generator complexes, and a massive effort towards making new energy systems cheaper than the old ones.
The results of this would be a massive shift in our financial stability, our GDP, in our security, and in our future.
The good thing about capitalism is that the excesses, profit, overcome the crashes, losses. UNLESS AND UNTIL THE STUPID CLASS IN GOVERNMENT INTERVENES.
I mean, if those in government were only minutely intelligent there would be no government debt, no deficit, and no competition for America's might. It's the government that has hog-tied America. It's criminally insanely stupid.
The likes of reid and pelosi are running America into the ground because they are completely totally Stupid, and like the actor said, stupid IS as stupid DOES.
But the net-net on the question is that a massive national effort will REVERSE the losses and completely fix the economy, as soon as the minds of the people are in agreement on achieving this.
I am not an expert, but I am observant. What the politicians are doing is destroying us. It's up to us to overwhelm them. I mean there's only 535 of them, and a few million lawyers and crooked judges. What's it gonna take?

Yea! and throw out BP....only US companies should be pumping our oil! Just read that BP will be the marketing arm for Russian oil on the world market and that they control 40% of all crude being sold on the worldwide commodity market. Another company making money for noth'n. US oil should stay here!
Re: Political/Economic - ANWR Drilling
I disagree reid and pelosi are not stupid. They know what they are doing.
They want to hurt the people so bad , to where they feel they can get complete control of government...
Socialist Dictatorship ( guess where your guns will go )
Which has never survived, Always becomes a 'Tyrant' dictatorship using a single party
as means of control . Yes, I do believe they know what they are doing , up to the
'Tyrant' point. That is where they are nieve, they will be first to see the Gulag....

True, our GDP has skyrocketed, but how is this measured? With hard goods alone? It is measured with the false interest rates spuring on "growth", but alas, it is false growth. So inefect, hard goods plus all that contrived "wealth". Lies beget lies, folks believe those lies, lie some more, and then the truth surprisingly shows itself, then ......lie some more.I think this is in line, but a lot has changed since then. For one, our GDP has probably doubled since then.
Folks wanting to control government, ALL government, dems and repubs. Pretty vague huh? What's it gonna take?
