POLITICS - Olofson’s case & NRA
I was under the impression that the NRA was working on the Olofson’s case.
I guess I was wrong.
Really, If they are not going to stand up to the BTAF, what good are they.

Re: Olofson’s case & NRA
I've not been following things, but I heard they were staying out as well. There must be something radioactive about the guy that I'm missing. I don't get it. I've had an EBR with a bad disconnector (since replaced) that would double and triple every once in a while myself. I understood that to be the issue here ... not that he specifically modified the gun.

Re: Olofson’s case & NRA
I had those thoughts also, What bothers me, If they ( BATF) have no 'evidence' of him doing
anything illegal, and they make a case just because they want to get him,
That puts everyone at risk.

Read the affidavit. The AR15 was converted to autoselect using M16 parts.

Thanks: That seems to be much different than what I have read at other forums.
Seems like he has no grounds for appeal, wonder why he is pursuing it...

Ok Kirkwood that is their side of the story...what's Olofson's? Besides, most firearm affectionados assemble, disassemble, swap out various parts, and so on. We might even do it for acquiantence that might compensate you for your time. Guess that just might be illegal.

Re: POLITICS - Olofson’s case & NRA
Let's see, you have Technical Branch test the firearm once and say "NO it is NOT a machine gun." - Then the comlaintant Branch Office comes back and says "Pretty please, test it with this non-standard, soft primered ammo..." and lo and behold... slam fire! Now it's a machine gun! Whoopee!
The whole thing stinks.

I've gotta take the anarchist stand.
What he does with his guns is his business if he doesn't hurt anyone else or bust up their stuff.
What he is accused of doing shouldn't be against the law in the first place.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

It is my understanding from a radio interview (Olofson & his expert witness) that Olofsons particular gun was originally manufactured with suspect/faulty parts, this I understand was corobarated with the manufacturer. (specific production run/serial #s)

Hello...I want to apologise for lurking so long until I first introduced myself, but I have learned so much from this forum. I love all firearms but have a special fondness for lever guns and own several. Something I read on this post bothers me though. In the links above to the atf side the agent refers (in the 4th link I believe) to checking in the "nat'l firearms registry" and not finding the firearm or Mr. Olufson listed. I didn't think they were supposed to keep these kinds of records on permanent file are they? Please straighten me out on this. Thanks to everyone.

Well, certainly the selector should not move back to a third position and the reference to an "extra pin" I assume is being made because there is perhaps an auto-sear installed though that certainly is an assumption on my part. I think I'm being led to that conclusion by the affidavit. However, I find it odd that the gun fires a few three round bursts at the range and later under one test ... then it miraculously fires full auto on three full magazines. That seems suspicious to me ... but then, I'm not on the jury and don't have access to the firearm.
Using another dealer's FFL though is a problem.

Watch Lou Dobbs's interview/expose, (all FIVE parts...) then tell me what you think of the BATFE case.oldmax wrote:So, I'm confused again, Is The BATF makeing false accusations ???

I don't believe anyone can say, with a straight face, that Lou Dobbs, employee of the Commie News Network, is a flaming Libertarian Gun Nut Radical... (like I am...

Re: POLITICS - Olofson’s case & NRA
I had read it a few days ago, That is what made me believe Olofson was being railroaded.
But, The BTAF report, leads one to question if Lou Dobb's was being 'Taken in "
It is very hard to comprehend that the BTAF would fabricate that much evidence...
I have contacted my Rep in Congress, He responded with a typical Yada Yada reply.
If I could determine that the BATF was persecuting Olofoson, I would continue pressuring
my congressional Rep....
If The BTAF is truely at fault, It would be worth a National effort to get them before Congress.
Did find this forum: very long

Re: POLITICS - Olofson’s case & NRA
There is (or was anyway) a giant years-long-thread over on AR15.com about this.
I would find it hard to believe that, especially after Rathergate, that Lou Dobbs would be taken in by a bogus BATFE letter.
The NRA, OTOH, has other priorities. http://jpfo.org/pdf/nraletter.pdf![Evil or Very Mad ](./images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)

JPFO has been asking for this for a long time. http://jpfo.org/filegen-a-m/bootbatfe.htm (There is a link to Olofson there)If The BTAF is truely at fault, It would be worth a National effort to get them before Congress.

Thanks, I checked the link,
What bothers me; is this site and others do not have current info,
If JPFO was really on this I would think it would have up to date info.
I am trying to find the correct avenue to give my support,
Assuming the facts are in order....
Just seems that a case with this much importance would be a HOT topic on all the gun forums...
