Win. 94 front sight hood

Post by kimwcook »

I did a search and couldn't find my answer. Is the front sight hood for the model 94 the same through out it's life. I have a pre-war 94 and would like a sight hood for the range. It's got the groove for one, I just don't know if I need one specifically for, a pre-war, pre-64, or if they're all the same. I remember this being talked about, but it was a long time ago.

From my "limited" experience with the 94s I believe there are variations. When I got my 1950 Mdl 94 several years ago the sight hood was missing. I have several extras from guns I've replaced the sights on and only one would fit the groves in the sight ramp. The flange on the others was too thick.
The flange on the hood that did fit had been fitted by having the flange thinned out prior to being blued. It fit the narrow grove on my 1950 perfectly.

If that's the only difference Joe I can sand a flange to fit.

(edited) Almost forgot the important part. Thanks Joe.
