CASE COLORED HAMMERS

Post by 4t5 »

MY THOUGHTS ARE THE SINGLE ACTIONS THAT HAVE CASE COLORED FRAMES AND BLUED BARRELS LOOK BEST WITH COLORED HAMMERS, WOULD YOU SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A COLORED HAMMER? WHICH IS MORE COMMON ON PERIOD FIREARMS, COLORED HAMMERS OR HAMMERS IN THE WHITE?

I agree! I had the hammers case colored on both an early USPFA and a Colt New Frontier at a whopping cost of $25 each, tagged onto a case colored custom Ruger project. To me the naked hammers just make it look like something's missing. Unless I'm remembering it wrong, the polished hammers did not appear until the 2nd generation Colt SAA's.

Both my third gen Colt SAA's have polished sides. I'd prefer CCH and would be willing to pay for it. I mean come on, how much more is it going to cost from the factory compared to the price you pay already.

I have two USFAs, one with, one without the CC hammer. I don't think I'd spend $115 (didn't) but if the gun comes with it I'll be very, very pleased!

I would just as soon have a blued or blued/polished hammer on a single action with CCH frame.

On a blued S&W revolver, the hammer is supposed to be CCH.
