Alright everyone, don't laugh! I live in CA and was wondering where I could find what the requirements are about selling/shipping a firearm out of CA if I was to sell any here on the board or someplace like GunBroker?
I've searched the 'net and CA DOJ and couldn't find anything about shipping a firearm out of CA. I know it has to be shipped to an FFL dealer but can I, the individual (seller) ship it to the dealer?
I never thought I'd think about selling a couple/few but I'd like to own a couple of others so I guess I need to "finance" my "want".
Thanks guys.

Hell, Calipornia will probably PAY YOU to ship guns OUT of state. They just don't want guns brought IN...

Same rules apply as everywhere else. Ship to FFL. The CLFC law doesn't apply unless you are shipping within the state and are an FFL.
The law was created and supported by the FFL's in California as a way to create a monopoly and discourage out of state transfers. The California FFL's have been charging outrageous fees to do a transfer. So they put together their protectionist law in hopes that the out of staters will be too lazy to take two minute to get an "approval" number via the internet. From what I see, quite a few are.
The bonus to the state is they have a way to charge user's or sales tax on out of state purchases.

Re: Legal requirements to ship a firearm out of CA?
You can ship your firearms out of California the same as any state. For modern guns to your buyers FFL, IF he will accept it. He, or your buyer, will send a originally signed(not copied) FFL license form from him to you before shipping to The FFL dealer. This applies to long guns only. If your buyer is a C&R license holder and your gun qualifies, you can ship directly to him, with his C&R license copy sent to you by him signed as above. If you are going to send a modern handgun you must ship it from your FFL to the buyers FFL. This may apply in some states to ALL handguns, C&R legal ones included, as it does in California when you buy out of state. Find an FFL dealer in your area and ask what he will and won't do for you before you sell. Many dealers feel they are missing a sale by helping you, but I think they should be looking to pick up a future customer this way.
