The Most Useless Man
You've all heard of the World's Most Interesting Man. But how many know who the World's Most Useless Man is?
Well, I'll tell you who he is. He is an orchestra conductor. He stands there waving his arms around (and no two will use the same movements even when "conducting" the same music) while the entire orchestra ignores him and plays what's on the sheet music in front of them.

I gotta admit I never paid much attention to the conductor during my brief stint in high school orchestra and band. My son-in-law is a concert violinist and I’ll have to ask him about that. I’m sure there is a vital role, but it’s probably not apparent to someone like myself who didn’t get very far in that realm.
I did see a video a few weeks ago, where an overzealous conductor accidentally knocked a Stradivarius violin out of a woman’s hand when she stood up to play a solo during the orchestration. It fell on the floor, but evidently wasn’t damaged too badly because she picked it up and looked it over and didn’t freak out.

Re: The Most Useless Man
The conductor does most of his work with the orchestra at the rehearsals. He has less control during the performance.
There are a few orchestras that have no conductor. During rehearsals, the musicians discuss tempos, emphasis, etc. The limited number of such orchestras might suggest the conductor is useful?

Re: The Most Useless Man
I thought this post was about the UK Prime minister as I have never known such a useless man...but I have often wondered about orchestra conductors...

We have an over abundance of useless people. I don’t understand how they can afford to eat.

Re: The Most Useless Man
Never really put much thoughts into the ? totally, but can honestly say, I came to Jeepniks conclusion exactly by time I graduated HS, and exactly about the #1- Music Conductor! Won't get into the details of who and why that was, but my conclusions had good reasons! At same time and circumstances, I came to I Know, to be the #2 Answer? The Drum Majorret! No before I go farther, forgive me my thoughts, but they are honest!
Then being in 4 years HS, ends at 18 years old, played 6-7 years football & basketball, done well, especially at football, and who drew my eyes the most, but I didnt pursue my thoughts! But lo n Behold, by my sophomore year, who pusmrsued me, like a bloodhound? =The Drum Majorret! Now she was also in Choir, saw all that pertaining to that, equals my #1 Choice!
You can probably fill in the blanks, all turned out useless, waste of some good years, but oh what a ride, wouldn't trade the lesson for nothing!
Jyst glad I learned and lived my best route, plain Ole simple me, it payed off, never useless but very tough route, but totally productive and beneficial, God's Good Providence!
It's the poured out water that turns the wheels of Providence! And what to us looks like water dumped, gone wasted, useless from then on, God's recycling leaves out nothing! That which is a beautiful floating pure white cloud, suddenly turns black, taken by storm, and soon changed into stormy rain, dumped for nothing but its use! But that's just the ugly to us visible part that seems so tragic! That water rises back full circle again, by the hands of the King, when it will be Glorified again, to show His Glory! Same goes for the Conductor, Majorret, Coal Miner, etc, etc!

I've always thought t was the weather man. Who else gets to be wrong about their job 99% of the time, tells you useless information, sometimes absolute misinformation... and get paid for doin it? I can walk outside and predict that today, it's mostly going to be sunny, not likely to storm or be windy. I knew it was going to rain & storm yesterday, because I washed my truck the day before! And I wanted to mow my pastures!

Generally speaking the most useless man is any politician.
