The only UGLY gun I have held within the last year was Phil Shoemaker's .458 Winchester. Man. That thing is ugly. And as smooth as silk.

That is his BEAR GUN! I believe he said he has used it for around 40 years and has taken many large bears with it. It is ugly but it works.

Bear gun!!!!

I shot that gun a couple of times. First shot my trigger finger must have hit the magazine release and dumped the follower on the deck. Big recoil.

Sounds as if it has a lot of recoil.

That thing in the first post looks like something from a bad '70's space movie.

Gents,

That's the same as in this recent post, made in Turkey (but no pistols in the U.S.A.):

The one good thing about that thing is you have to admit it has pretty much ALL the things that make most of us cringe, in perfect combination...!

I like 'nontraditional' firearms (one of my favorite leverguns is a Marlin 1894-CST 357 Mag - stainless with an aluminum stock/forend and has mounted red dot optics, light, and laser), but there has to be some 'rationale' for any gun - it either should look good even if it isn't perfect for all situations, or it had better be perfect for whatever the niche situation is, if it is ugly (the above-mentioned levergun of mine serves perfectly for tasks no AR-15 or walnut/blue levergun would do well).

But personally, I'd really have to stretch to find a use for the shotgun pictured above, other than to annoy other gun owners...

....BUT....if it does get some decent individual interested in 'guns' as their first gun, I guess it has served a purpose. For some people it might even have a use. Perhaps an elderly person who couldn't handle much recoil, needs the assistance of mounted light or laser versus regular sights due to terrible vision or inexperience with any normal sights, lives in a place where 'detachable magazines' are forbidden, but wants several shots in an easier-to-load system versus a shotgun tubular magazine, and finds it easier to hold with that particular grip/foregrip stuff...??? (keep in mind some 80 year old who has never fired a gun but realizes he/she is no longer in the safe neighborhood of their youth, may find this kind of contraption just meets their needs, and that person won't even know what 'ugly' is, as they never developed the appreciation for 'beauty' that those of us who grew up as 'gun people' did)

that one sort of goes beyond ugly and into the

straight up weird ---- category

Remember when Mossberg brought out the first "tactical leverguns" about 15 years ago? we thought the same thing then

sheesh - now everyone has a tactical levergun -

No sir. Not everyone. :)

The first person who uses that revolving shotgun and who doesn't know anything about them is gonna be in for a surprise. Especially if they hold it like a regular shotgun.

Jim, look where that forward handle thing is. Someone is going to need medical help because holding it wrong is sort of encouraged by the design.

I saw that. I remember a lady back in the 1980's who lost the end of her first finger on the left hand by having it near the barrel/cylinder gap on a 454 Casull.

The front of the cylinder has something black on there that resembles a guard of some sort that i am guessing is to prevent that?

It's the sideways blast that is dangerous. High pressure gas in a razorblade thin stream out left and right. It carries powder grains and if the cylinder is slightly out of line or some other issue, bits of bullet material.

The only safe way to shoot a revolving rifle or shotgun is the support hand on the firing hand like it was a pistol.

The guard is supposed to keep that from happening, but where is that gas going? Back at you?
