Mexico is on fire

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

Parts of Mexico are in anarchy right now.

Mexican police killed El Mencho this morning. US assets may have been involved. Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and other major tourist destinations are being targeted.

Guadalajara Airport has been taken over by. Cartel members are telling people to stay home and threatening to kill people who go out into the streets.

Let’s pray for the people who always suffer when these things happen.

Prayers up for the innocents.

Whenever a country goes down the tubes they're the ones who suffer.

We're just seeing a small taste of that in the US and the big cities, but it's the norm in nations without a constitution and without capitalism.

I’m thinking this looks like a show of force rather than mayhem. A message to the Mexican government and to ours. Looks like mostly property damage and not murder.

That’s from looking at people reporting from there. I hope this is right.

I've been to Mexico a couple/few times. Never need to go again. Plenty of other places to see, and the risk/reward balance is way out of whack.

Prayers up...

We did Mission work in Baja Norte for 10 years. Early 70's to early 80's. Beautiful country. Beautiful people. I took my folks with us once and they said it reminded them of the U.S. in the 1940's, It was peaceful in those days.

I used to love Mexico and I enjoyed my time there. These days it doesn’t feel the same. I miss those days.

Sounds like retribution for the killing of the cartel leader. I think they're trying to send a message to the Mexican government to tell them the cartel is in charge, not the police, Army, or any government agents.
Mexico is not the same country it was before the cartels began running things down there. Even if this ends well and the cartels draw back, I still wont ever visit Mexico.

If they mess with US citizens there, they may find out Trump's approach to the concept of 'FAFO'...

Takes some of the fun out of a visit to Palomas for chicken molé. Even there, across from Columbus, I've seen the military patrolling in jeeps with a guy standing in back with his hand on a mounted machine gun.

The only place I go these days is Boquillas. Still isolated enough to avoid cartel violence.

You do realize that Mexico is well overdue for another revolution.

I have no need to visit Mexico, I do not do drugs, and my favorite adult beverages come from Ireland and Italy.

I'm pretty sure the cartels will leave US citizens alone. They have to realize the current POTUS is not the same doddering fool who was there two years ago.
