OT-Crayfish recipes

Post by shawn_c992001 »

Do you catch your own, and how so? From water to table how do you do it?

I use a standard mesh minnow trap, baited with hamburger, and left over night.
Rinse them a few times in the trap, put them in a pot of warm water with some salt disolved. Strain and drop into boiling water with seafood seasoning and some cayeanne pepper. Don't forget the corn on the cob, potatoes, and sausage.
My wife throws in a peach cobbler (my favorite dessert), and either vanilla, or the Bryers Fried Ice Cream with it.

We have a fresh seafood place here in central Virginia not to far from where I live that usually has a large amount of live mudbugs !

I have been saying for about 5 years now that I was gonna have a crawfish boil , but I have yet to do so ! Maybe this summer ...............

Well, I can tell you the best thing for boiling them - Louisiana Fish Fry brand boil seasoning - its the best. Just be sure to let the crawfish soak in the seasoned water for about 20 minutes after the intial boil - that lets the flavor get in. And if you like, sprinkle some of the dry boil seasoning on them before serving. Good with red potatoes and corn on the cobb too. :)

Suckin heads - iayeeee!
