Marlin 1894CL
I have found a second hand 1894CL .32/20. According to the seller, in very good condition showing very little sign of use and fitted with a Williams receiver peep sight. The guy wants £450 which works out about $897. Plus another £20 shipping.
Seems a bit expensive to me, what do you guys think?

The price is about double what it's worth.

Just bought one at the Yuma, Arizona gunshow last fall for $340.00 in excellent, like new condition with factory sights. Saw another in not quite as good shape at Riverton, Wyoming gunshow for $395.00 which I thought was a bit high but probably could have bargained it down a bit. Your seller seems very proud indeed.

About 2 years ago they were selling for between 550.00 - 600.00 USD. Brand new.

Alot of it is based on which version it happens to be !
The original uncheckered version from the mid 80's until the early 90's in like new condition do sometimes bring a bit more .
But if it is the latest production version from a couple years ago in my mind it isn't worth as much ! FWIW the later model looked pretty much the same except for the checkered stocks .

The one at the top is the latest production 1894CL in 32-20 .
The next down is a 1894CL in 32-20 from the 198-1991 production .
Next down is a 1894CL in 25-20 .
And the one at the bottom is a 1894CL in 218 Bee .
The newer 32-20 I had my local dealer get when they first came out . The older 32-20 I bought off Auctionarms about 2 years ago NIB from a guy in NC . The 25-20 and the Bee I bought at a gunshop and a gunshow in northeast PA .

At least you are on the right track. Just keep looking. If I could I would loan mine to you for a couple of months, then you would probably pay most anything for one, they are that great.

In the U.S. they go for less but aren't pretty much ALL guns WAY more expensive to get hold of in the UK?
...besides - how can you buy a MARLIN,
when (get ready)
you (this one's a killer)
live (I couldn't resist)
in "Winchester?"

Re: Marlin 1894CL
I bought 2 new checkered ones, my daughters husband needed one. We gave 1000.00 NIB for 2, plus 25 shipping for the pair. 512.50 each, and am still glad to have those 32-20's. Look on the Gunbroker, they appear often.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.

Yes we often have to pay £ for $ for a lot of American goods.AJMD429 wrote:In the U.S. they go for less but aren't pretty much ALL guns WAY more expensive to get hold of in the UK?
:
I see lots of bargins on Gunbroker but all US firearms have to be proof tested here which adds to the cost and the complicated paperwork!
I think the one I saw advertised is a new model, as the 32/20 is not common here and I know that last year someone was importing them and selling them at £600 or $ 1,196.
The guy who is selling the Marlin also has a Winchester 92 in 32/20 built in 1913 for a mere £1,150 or $2,291
Both guns can be seen on " guntrader UK "
AJMD429 I don't get no cash discount on Winchesters sure wish I did!
