Uh, what am I missin' here? They did make 'em, called Mdl 65, in both 3 & 4" square & round butts. And sold a boatload of 'em to the FBI, police departments, militaries and enthusiasts around the world. Discontinued along w/other Mdel19 based designs as being inadequate for solid diets of .357Mag. I love my 4" SB.

Yup they did make a boat load of them. But I wouldn't call them inadequte due to a steady diet of of .357 magnum ammo. As far as I know they recieved that bad rap due to the 125gr full house loads. Not the 158gr loads which the fixed sight K frame magnums were regulated for. What I'm refering to in this case is the bead blast finish along with the dove tailed patridge front sight. I never seen a cataloged 65 from S&W that had these features and was a standard production item.

My Lady Smith 65-5 3" is identical to Bogus Bill's 66 - complete with beadblasted SS finish and full underlug/shroud -- except for my 65's fixed sight. His 66 and my 65, both hard to come by, are the best of the bunch IMO.
