I made some paper shot cups today for my Muzzle loader and gained a 30% increase in pattern!
I used copier paper wrapped four times and glued one end shut, next I measuered 1 1/2 oz of shot and trimmed to suit, then I put four slits to half the length. I greased them up with my own lube too.
The three rabbit were taken with one shot! Nothing to do with shot cups, I just did not see the others when I shot in the long grass. The recovered shot cup is on a rabbit for the picture.
Nath.
Here are two patterns shot @ 25 paces the one on the left is my normal load of 4 cards between the shot and 3/4-7/8 volume of powder. The right paper has a 30% roughly gain in pellet count, the only differance is the shot cup! The targets are A4 pieces of paper.
Nath.
Andrew, I taped up a dowle untill it was just under the bore diameter. Then I took a sheet of A4 and folded it three times as in putting a letter in an envelope and cut it the three times. Those pieces were then wrapped 4 times around the dowl and glued. Then I folded the end glueing it shut. After cutting to length I found I had enough to do another one @ 1 1/2ozx12g so one sheet will give me 6 cups.
I then put 4 cuts to half the length and greased them up and put them in a bag, thats it.
Nath.
Bunny season starts on Tuesday here and I still need to get my license,
find a place to hunt under a 2 hour drive and use the M39 and only get
one at a time.
Excellent Nath!
Anyone who doesn't know A4 is just a little bigger than our letter size of 8 1/2 x 11.

bsaride, thats crazy! Over here you only gotta ask a farmer and your in.
Had a lady wanting to pay me anything to shoot 1-2 bunnies in her garden this week. Err, who'll know you only shot one?
And do you ride a bsa?
Nath.
Nath, my last 12GA was a single barrel copy of a Remington Zouave. You could get them in .58 rifled or 12GA or 8GA. Before that I had a D/B Pedersoli like yours.
Both of which were great fun and capable game getter's!

Great Idea. If components keep getting higher, we'll all get a little more inventive. And the best thing of all is that you've got VITTLES for the next 3 or 4 days!!
GK, I had a 58 smooth bored one of them. It was good with a patched ball. Did not know they did them in 12 though and 8g
When I got home last night I had to bend a hammer on the Peder! Don't know how it happened but I was shocked at how easy it was to bend, soft as poop really!
TomF, what are VITTLES?
I just had for Sunday dinner, Bone in ribeye cooked over wood coals, fresh green beans and new potatoes, and fried field corn. MMMMMMMM That is VITTLES.
Right Tom, Mrs cooked a big ole chicken today so I placed the jointed rabbit in the pan with it, hmmmm slurp they come out good what with the garlic and parsley and bay leaves, rosemary and salt, black powder salts. Slurp.
Nath, I had a Buffalo Carbine in .58 smooth bore. Took a lot of game with it. Even used it on ducks one evening and my brother in law said the flash from the nipple, in the fading light was awesome! I later changed the nipple to a Hot Shot type, cut down on the flash and it stopped re cocking the hammer when heavy loaded!
Those Italian hammers are not good quality. I had a Armi Sport flinter snap on me once, it looked like it was made of icing sugar. They did send me a new one for free though.

And to think, I was sitting today watching a bunny in my yard and thinkin', hey, the fire ants didn't get them all this year! Was actually pleased to see the little rodent! (They are a rodent, right?)
