Stay home and stay safe, Brian. Some of your cold air from Texas is slipping into the desert here this morning, meeting wet air from the Northwest. It will snow all day, and we are looking at a low tonight of about 12 and wind chill close to zero.

It's 23 here right now ... gonna be down around zero for the next few nights ... ice on everything and more predicted ... crazy weather for Texas! We have the propane tank filled, wood laid in, generator standing by if we need it, several deer in the freezer and some thawing, a nice bottle of single malt scotch or two standing by if we need anti-freeze, listening to the Gospel of John on audio. Folks are welcome to come and participate and/or partake.

Jim, it sounds good. If I were close enough, I would take you up on the offer. PillHer is going in to work. 1 mile away, but no way to avoid going over an overpass. She will be there for 8 hours. I am home watching the Weather channel and have a Chihuahua and a Chiweenie on my lap, an Irish Terrier on my left foot, and a Rat Terrier on my right foot. My big insulated mug of coffee is good, too.

Icy here in San Antonio. It should stay in the mid to high 20s here all day.

I have to take my sweetie to the movies to watch some chick flic called "Bridesmaids" today. (the things we do for love.) But after that, I'm snuggling up at home.

They are predicting snow tonight and if that happens, I will try to make it out to the ranch. I've never seen snow on the ranch.

I had to use the 4x4 yesterday in the mud, so I know it works!

Still a solid 1"+ of ice (barely an inch of snow all weekend) and it should finally start melting late today, freeze back up tonight, and the temp will be in the 40's Monday. I live 500' up and it's 1.5 miles down hill to the main roads. I may chain up later and get to the store.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

I dug out some snivel gear and went out to scrape the ice off of PillHer's car. Temperature in the teens with about a 10 to 15 mph wind. For this area, that is closing in on record setting cold.

The news states that it is 4° in Dallas. Rolling blackouts are happening due to the power demands. I think I would say it is a day to be prepared if you must go out. People who participate in outdoor activities such as hunting probably have plenty of stuff to keep warm.

Was 9 this morning at our airport out by Holloman AFB. Light snow atop yesterday's 3 inches.

It was 7deg when I got on the road this morning at 5:00am to go to work.

There were trucks spreading sand and de-icer everywhere, but I didn't see a foot of pavement over the 25 miles that I had to drive.

Still... It wasn't bad. Packed snow and not much ice. I'm sure it's out there but I didn't run up on any of it. Just a tiny loss of traction trying to get started from a stop at lights. No biggy. On my way home from work last night I thought about putting the chains on but decided not to. If you use your head, it's not that bad out on the roads.

:)

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

That is the issue. Using your head. Seems that some folks just want to go fast no matter what. Let 'em go. I will call 911 for them in a few miles when I pass the wreck.
