Back with a Sixgun

Post by Ramandu »

Hello fellers. I was previously on this forum as Irelander but have been away for a long while and do not have my old email address, so now I'm back as Ramandu. A few years ago I had a couple of wheelguns in 44 and a nice 44 levergun. Unfortunately I had major lapses in judgement and sold them off to buy soul-less plastic pistols and a big gun safe. Well I happened on a good deal for a SBH the other day and I couldn't be happier. I like my plastic HK for carry but there is just something about these single action revolvers that make me smile. Well, wheelguns in general are mechanical works of art and I'm really learning to enjoy them. Anyway, here is my new SBH. I'm already rereading Jim Taylor's articles and have my eye on a Vaquero. It's good to be back. Thanks for a great forum!

If you like, drop me a note with your old email address (or even just part, first or last) and I'd be happy to reactivate it for you with your new address.

I really enjoy the single action revolver's myself! I have a few Ruger's that I shoot regularly. Lately I've been on a 22 caliber kick. I have a USFA 12\22 that is super accurate compared to my Ruger single six. I like that the Blackhawk and Vaquero's are built like tank's! I'll take steel and wood over plastic any day! Even my carry firearm's are steel and wood. Colt 1911's Good luck with your Ruger!

Welcome back! I have an old 3 screw SB I keep threatening to send out to Bowen Classic Arms.
Someone here had one that was shortened, tuned, and case colored by them. I thought it was the most beautiful SBH I'd ever seen and would love mine the same way.

Read Mel Tappan's "survival guns" book.....one take-home is how 'un-pretentious' some of the people he cited were in terms of their firearms choices.

You seem like that. Find a gun that WORKS for you, get to know it, use it effectively, and to heck with any 'image' stuff.

Thanks for posting. It makes the rest of us realize that there are still practical people out there....!

Doc, don't start an argument about who is least pretentious. You know that could become snooty really fast.

You guys are so funny! Ramandu, I like your old handle better if you won't mind me saying so and hope you can get it back. AmBraCol rarely posts here anymore, if he sent you public invitation to find your old name, you should be honored. But either way, welcome back!! Been fondling my tuned Blackhawk Bisley for days now, funny you should bring it up. First gun I ever owned. I hear you! -Tutt

Such a useful gun. From light .44 Specials to stout 300 gr .44 Mag you can use it on anything.

Most of them are good to go out of the box these days, but if they aren't a little tweaking is all that is needed.

Thanks Scott. That revolver and I have a long story.

My apologies to the OP, didn't mean to pirate your thread. That's a sharp one and I seem to be obsessed w/ Ruger single actions lately.

Same to you Jay!
