A morning visitor

Post by jnyork »

My wife puts out a little pan of corn every morning for the neighborhood deer. This little 4-point buck came in this morning for a snack. There is a small bunch of about a dozen does and yearling bucks that hang out around the nearby houses. Photo taken through the front picture window, the animals dont seem to be able to see us on the other side of the glass.

Feeding deer is a good way to spread Chronic Wasting Disease, unfortunately....

I used to have a doe that would come up on the deck and look in the door. She had been hit by a car and was covered in road rash so I named her Scabby. She would allow me to scratch her head and ate from my hand.

CWD is why I stopped feeding .

That little buck looks very healthy!

Little? But, then again I'm used to seeing the little blacktail in and around the Cascades.
