Conestoga wagon jack.

Post by Pitchy »

Made this Conestoga wagon jack last couple days, they date back a couple hundred years.
I`m so happy with the way it turned out hope ya like it, made from Oak and a bunch of old Motorcycle gears that have been laying around for years. :D

Yeah Bro, watched that video and am looking at your new jack. That is some engineering feat. Amazing that the gears would work for that and where did you find that rack with the correct pitch. Anyway, great job! It might even work on a Harley.

Thanks Ron, that rack has been laying around for 30 years can`t remember where it came from.
Got lucky all the gears pitches matched up. :o

Cool jack. 8)

Now ya gotta make the Connestoga wagon to go with it, eh?

Pitchy, you got to think modern. All you have to do is build it with a bunk. Add a few cooking pots and a chamber pot. Put in a chest and a couple candles and you've got yourself an "Eco Friendly, Zero Emissions, Tiny Home." :D

Then you find some dumb millennials and sell it to them and make enough off them to buy yourself a new Harley!!

Lenn, that is a great piece of engineering 8) I'm certainly impressed once again....

I saw a Conestoga wagon at the American Museum in Somerset UK, bigger than I imagined so a jack like that would have been a extremely valuable piece of kit.

Pitchy I think it is time for you to trade in your conestoga wagon and upgrade to a modern Model T pickup. You need to stay ahead of those hostiles you have been fighting in your area in MN. :)

More substantial!?

This rig didn't make it's reserve, so it's still for sale........

Probably need a MORE substantial jack, though.
(No offense, Pitchy - I hope none taken! :-) )

Very cool. My Grandmother walked beside a Conestoga from Independence, Kansas to what became Turpin, Oklahoma when the Cimarron Strip became part of Oklahoma. Her Parents got a farm in the Oklahoma Panhandle. Almost 40 years in age between her and my dad, and my dad and me. Over 3/4 ths of a century from her birth to mine.

That project just came together perfectly didn't it Lenn? Really nice. You might not need a Conestoga, but how about a tidy little Studebaker? 8)

Model T pickup? I was thinking something a bit more . . . . . . . . . substantial.

I've got a military drivers license to drive one of those. Never been in one. Apparently there is/was a requirement left over from when the USAF was part of the USA that a certain number of folks had to be able to drive different vehicles. The Civil Engineering Squadron usually got that honor. heavy equipment operators, but they spread it around to firefighters that were on mobility.

Pitchy, when does the wagon train trip leave? I only have 89#'s of essentials well besides firearms and ammo. Problem is it would attract too much attention and you would get no peace and quiet most days! Todd

Notice that they are also using field expedient materials? AAA just wasn't around at the time. Folks like Pitchy who could think outside the box were valued for their ingenuity. Being forced to think inside the box from inside a box is a very recent happening.
