Doc,
Some may call me an idiot but as far as I'm concerned that with the exception of chrome lining the bore, everything else is selling ice to the Eskimo's...and even then the chrome lining is only needed in humid climates.

I've done it many more times than once.....get a factory barrel, free float it, use a 1-7 twist, keep it clean and use synthetic oil and that gun will run thousands and thousands of rounds .....with near match accuracy.

But that's me and my very unscientific experiments....."they" have to keep coming up with stuff to keep the bills paid.---6...006

I have used the chrome lined barrels in the Army. I cannot tell the difference in accuracy. The only bore I ever had rust in was a 20 gauge shotgun I bought used. It still shoots great.
