Had another spinal injection

Post by Ysabel Kid »

The disc I have already had two surgeries on now needs it again. Herniated one more, this time on both sides, or rather, pressing against both nerve roots. I've been doing spinal injections for about a year now, usually every 2-3 months, and they seem to be helping. Just trying to avoid them cutting open my back once again. Well, Sunday 11/8 my back melted down again. The throbbing down my right leg was darn near unbearable. I got lucky and Workers Comp approved the injection in 2 days and I actually got in to get the injection on Friday 11/13.

I know - Friday the 13th in 2020 - what am I, insane? Just desperate.

Two sleepless nights immediately afterwards, but caught some shuteye last night. Shot hasn't helped yet, but it can take up to 2 weeks before it does. Would appreciate a pray if you can spare it. This is not fun, but it could always be worse...

Thanks fellas!

Prayers up.
I work part time doing medication audits at a couple of day surgery hospitals. They do a lot of the kind of things which you just had done. It may take time, and it may or may not work. Prayers for healing sent. Follow the Doctor's orders.

Yikes; prayers up for sure. I am so thankful I don’t have disk disease.

It isn’t an area medicine is very good at fixing; we ca transplant you a kidney or cornea, but not a disk... :|

Look into your MTHFR genetics and your urinary kynurenate levels; sometimes there are metabolic factors that can be easily corrected that greatly mitigate pain. I’ve had people where just supplying proper ‘methylating’ regimens relieves neuropathic pain like that better than Percocet without the side effects. I use Thorne’s Methylguard Plus a lot for people IF they are proper metabolic/genetic candidates. If not it won’t hurt them but wouldn’t particularly help. Also if testosterone is low (free testosterone under 100 - NOT necessarily below the ‘reference range’) or even if estrogen is high in males, pain is worsened.

Jay, you have my prayers that the relief arrives, and decides to stay a good long while!
I just completed three rounds of bilateral injections L4-5, where I had my last fusion and a laminectomy before that. I haven't noticed any relief from the injections or the 2,400 mg of gabapentin daily. My pain specialist wants to sell me an Abbott Burst DR implanted spinal cord stimulator. I am not yet sold. Disk disease is no darned picnic, and now that all the lumbar disks are in play, parts of my cervical/thoracic spine want to play the game as well.

Prayers up Kid. I have prayed for your back a number of times, I'm putting you on speed dial. With us old dudes and all this back trouble, maybe we should consider a class action lawsuit. I'm seeing a design flaw and a cover up

I feel for you sir! I just found out I have 4 bulging disc's. Lot's of pain shooting down the leg also. The neuropathy is beyond painful! I just had my 2nd round of spinal epidural and steroid ejections into the spinal canal. I had one operation after herniating L4 L5 s1 and s2. Two bulging in the neck is new. I'm use to many year's of back pain, but this neck pain is new territory for me! Speedy recovery and God Bless!

Finally, last night I got some sleep. I am way too old to be up all night so many nights in such a short time. The shot itself is starting to help - but part of it is just not sitting at my desk. I'm on vacation this week (well, I am not working at work; I am plowing through a "honey-do" list a mile long). During COVID, with no business travel, I have been in meetings non stop. I try to pace when I'm on the phone, but lately most of them have required me sitting at my desk looking at the scene or being in front of the camera. Fellas, sitting is one of the worst things we do for our backs,

Thank you all for your prayers; I feel them helping, as I knew they would. I'm sorry to hear about those also dealing with pain (I'm praying for you), and those with multiple disc failures. I know pain can always be worse (has happened to me often), and that I'm above dirt, walking and working is truly a blessing.
