I Recieved An Email From Friends In Mozambique, Africa

Post by JimT »

They wanted to let me know they are doing fine in midst of all that is going on. They included a photo from the church in the village where I taught and worked for 6 years. It was good to hear from them. I do miss life there.

That place (and those people) left an indelible mark on you and your wife, and you surely left one on them, as well. All good. Times you will forever cherish, and good deeds they will continue to benefit from.

I would if I could. I have been back several times since I left. I was planning on going earlier this year but the borders shut down because of the virus. I have friends who went there in December for a couple months who are still there, though things are gradually opening up again.

Jim, I know you and Twyla poured your hearts into that mission. Happy to see they are taking care not to give the virus an easy chance.

Yes. According the Embassy as of October 27, Mozambique has 12,273 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 89 deaths. Once you have a visa to visit, it is possible to get into the country IF you have a valid Covid19-free test that is 72 hours or less old. Temperatures are checked at arrival and a 10-day Quarantine is mandated once you arrive.

Of course there are the countries you have to transition through getting there. :D It's a tough time to do international travel unless you just have no other options.
