Sick Squirrel.....?

Post by .45colt »

Last week we had about a dozen Fox Squirrels in the yard every day, the Oak trees are dropping the acorns and it's like a supermarket for them. one mangy looking bugger wouldn't run away like the others and just let Me walk up to it. with the four Grandkids here all the time I dispatched it with the Henry .22. anyone else ever see one act like this ? was pretty weird.

I see a thin mangy looking Grey squirrel quite often but he seems more active than the others, I watched him this morning and his actions are certainly erratic even for a squirrel.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

Squirrels have to die of something. Could be some sort of squirrel disease. Heck I think they can carry rabies.

Not sure. They do get diseases.

W. Texas gets periodic rabies and plague ( yeah, the Black Death), the Game Warden recommended to dispatch any animal acting wierd...coons walking around during day etc. I found one coon walking like a drunk and not running from the truck 3 feet away. He looked skinny and sick. Bang! I unfortunately have no squirrels on my place, no acorns or pecans around for miles. Plenty of bunnies. Cold weather soon will bring to table my "hot rabbit" reicipe, learned from my old Cajun housekeeper lady.

Makes me think.....the squirrels seem to have started early this year getting ready for the winter.....

The way I see it if those squirrels normally run away and this one hung around, he's either sick or possibly he has been carousing around with some Mexican squirrels. That will make him lazy. Whatever you do don't let that squirrel have babies with a BLM squirrel as the offspring will be too lazy to steal.

Bubonic Plague vaccine was the most painful vaccine I ever got.
