Great Britain killing the First Amendment now...

Post by AJMD429 »

Granted, there ISN'T a "First Amendment" there, nor a "Second Amendment".....but this kind of thing should show to Americans that government will ALWAYS trample on citizens who annoy them, and without very specific and solid constitutional limits on government power, there is no real way to push back in the courts. And of course, when the 'trampling' becomes literal, no effective 'militia' functionality.

If I were in charge of U.S. education, I'd teach reading, writing and arithmetic during the first five years, and then history, economics, and logic during the next five years. The last two years could be college-prep or career-prep. If you didn't understand basic U.S. History, the Bill of Rights, and the principles of the Free Market, you'd not be allowed to graduate, and if you didn't graduate, you'd not be allowed to vote.

Doc, you make way too much sense for the politicians to ever let that become law. They'd loose their power in a generation or two because all of the dumb $&!ts who can't think for themselves and are therefore easily manipulated would be barred from voting. Worst possible thing a politician wants is an informed and free thinking voter.

Just like in jury selection, the criminal defense liars, oops I mean lawyers (but they're actually the same thing so is it really wrong?), don't want independent thinking jurors. They want easily manipulated, ignorant jurors they can steer through their fantasy argument to get their slime criminal defendant acquitted.

And people thought Geo. Orwell's "1984" was fiction....

1984 was just a little ahead of reality. Just a little.

In Orwell's book I don't think the totalitarian government just sprang up one day. It's an insidious process. Take a bit of a freedom here, take a bit there. After all, it's for your own good. The government knows what's best for you.

I read 1984, the first time, as a school reading assignment. It was a social studies class. The teacher, Mr. Asher, was like most of our male teachers a WW II vet. Served in Europe in the 82nd. He'd seen close up what an unchecked madman can do.

I suspect that if a child showed up with a copy of the book, or did a book report (if they still do those) they'd be expelled for not following school policy regarding political indoctrination.

I fear my kids may be the last generation to understand their rights and the RESPONSIBILITIES that come with those rights.

It's coming here in the US as well. Even my sister, a life long Democrat, says she's becoming worried by the attitude of the American left toward free speech. Their intolerance of opposing viewpoints is, as she puts it, almost religious in its zeal. My Chinese wife, who grew up under the communists, senses it, too.

a lot of 1st world countries are making big changes. I saw this with disasters in the 3rd world, the governments use it as a great time to 'make a lot of necessary changes', in their eyes of course. Never thought I would see it in the free world though. I

Check out Australia, looking to appoint a special class of citizen, above police who can detain indefinetly any citizen suspected of being a 'future threat' to health and safety. What will they call this very gifted pre-crime expert, an Inquisitor?

According to most historians, it’s a classical problem that is the result of generational differences. You have a generation that sacrifices everything, including their lives and fortunes and families, to attain freedom.

The children of those people understand how important freedom is and lives their lives accordingly, but because of that freedom they have a relatively good life compared to their parents.

Their children have an even better life, only hearing vague and distant stories of the sacrifices their grandparents made. Those children are pampered and spoiled and feel the world owes them comfort and wealth.

The children they bear are even worse, and demand socialist and so-called ‘progressive’ political policies because they are ‘entitled’ to security without risk or sacrifice...

In the most recent cycle the so-called “greatest generation” made great sacrifices, and in large part understood what it takes to attain freedom and liberty. Their children who we called “baby boomers”, grew up with luxury and security not seen before on this planet on such a wide scale. In their zeal to make sure their children had an even better life, they raised a generation that largely became socialists and are tearing apart the foundations of the nation that enabled their parents to be so successful...

Even though many of us on this forum are baby boomers or children of baby boomers, we need to accept the fact that many of the people in our generations are the ones who are destroying this country.

If we don’t all become very, very, very politically active in the next two weeks, and educate our friends and relatives to the point that we cause Trump to win in a landslide victory, we will very quickly and easily lose forever what multiple generations of our ancestors sacrificed their lives to provide for us....

Perhaps the fellow that said the tree of liberty needs to be refreshed by the blood of patriots and tyrants understood what Doc wrote above.

We're already in jeopardy on the First and Second amendments. In my lifetime the Supreme Court has voted on challenges to both that were decided in our favor. BUT FOUR SO CALLED JUSTICES VOTED AGAINST RETAINING THESE RIGHTS IN EACH CASE!!! This included the "brilliant" RBG.

We need Justice Barrett, and we need The Donald. And even better would be to control both houses too.

Hey, ain't WE supposed to control them? I tell mine what I think every chance I get. (I do try to tone my rhetoric down a little)... I've asked one long time Senator more than once just who he thinks he's SUPPOSED to be representing on more than one vote he's cast.

I have written to the senior Senator several times, too. I think coming so close to losing to a skateboarding, meth using, human solid waste product eating, white Irish latino wannabe, was a wake up call for the Junior Senator.

Read the oath of office for all federal officers, elected and appointed. Now if these were such upstanding, moral and ethical folks don't you think they would uphold that oath or if their personal beliefs would not allow this step down?

I ask a county supervisor that very question. I was ruled out of order. Imagine that, out of order for asking if one was upholding their oath of office. Touchy bunch.

Here in Canada we have a corrupt megalomaniac running our country trying to take away our rights and freedoms for the promise of a safer, kinder better world.Unfortunately it s what he thinks is better and what is in his way is our rights and freedom. These people promise you the world in the guise of socialism but that's not what they are really offering.Karl Marx stated that
socialism is the first stage of communism and the reason they are so strong to disarm the public is to ease the transition from socialism to communism as by the time people realize it will be too late to act.Communism is an experiment that has failed miserably over and over but it won t go away much like cockroaches. It has failed because eventually it becomes a country of poor people run by ruthless dictators and gangsters where only a few connected people live in luxury and the rest grovel for few crumbs

The funny thing is our great ancestors left the old world to escape corruption oppressive rulers
and now we are in the same boat but we have nowhere to sail to

Thats the thing, its not just one country or libs vs conservatives. The problems are all across the free world( which is what 31 countries?). both parties in each country pushing the same weakness. Its highly suspect to my suspiciious mind how everyone marches to the beat of the same drum. My tin foil hat is a little too tight these days, but the speed at which everyone falls into line is scary. New York says there are 50 genders, next month Britain and Canada go one better saying there are infinte genders, next all 31 first world countries are on board and every talkshow in these countries is having the same fights about 'transgender sport and new bathrooms for schools'. Not even a single dissenter to that script, everyone 100% into it within a month, laws changed, schools teaching the new rhetoric.
Your a smart guy Doc, what mechanism is it that moves things so quickly and completley? Countries do not appear to have any indivuality or soveriengty anymore. So who is calling the shots?

The biggest mechanisms that helping push these agendas are the news media and schools. Two things they learned from Hilter and the nazi regime was control the news media and educate the young .By using these two outlets you can brainwash the current population and future generations into your way of thinking

Just look at what the democrates and the news media have done to trump, they have vilified the man .Since he was elected they have had something negative about the man daily and if they can t find anything about him they ll make fun of his family saying that his wife was wearing the wrong color shoes. This is akin to subliminal adverstising say something is bad long enough and loud enough and a lot of people will start to believe it without questioning it.And the schools hit the kids at a young age trying to mold them into the little socialists they want

A significantly less than normal intelligence Senator from Hawaii parroted something to Amy Barrett about sexual orientation, and Judge Barrett replied with the term sexual preference. The Senator from Hawaii had her "GOTCHA!" moment. Despite Creepy Joe having used the term within the last week, it was made clear that it is now an offensive term for a Conservative to use. The next morning Merriam-Webster Dikshunory(spelled to show my disdain) chanced their entry to show that overnight the term had become offensive. How blatant can you be?
