Pretty much any time someone has a problem and asks for help I ask if they have cleaned it. Some are up front and tell me they haven’t. Others try to side step the question.

In most cases tearing it down and cleaning the nooks and crannies solves the problem. But it’s often not the owners fault. Read almost any user info that comes in the box and they’ll state “No further disassembly is needed / recommended”.

I understand that many folks aren’t capable of completely disassembling a firearm. Some are a PITA or need tools folks don’t have. But the manufacturers should be up front and state the gun needs deep cleaning every x number of rounds or after a certain time period.

Folks understand that service by a professional is needed for autos. Why wouldn’t they understand the same for firearms?

As I read that I thought, autos are firearms!
It took me a bit to connect "mobiles" with "auto" ...
Sorry ... my slow brain .. fixated on firearms.

Same thing happens in medicine....

I see people who come in with stuff that makes them feel awful, and they are frustrated. Often they've seen cardiologists, endocrinologists, gynecologists, and other specialists, at the advice of well-meaning relatives and friends, but when I ask them "When was the last time you had a thorough physical...?" they often look puzzled, try to remember, then say "Well, not for several years...." or "I had my 'annual' with my Ob-Gyn just last month..." or "I get a complete physical for my work every year..." Upon further inquiry I find out that they haven't had a complete history taken, a complete examination (women think having a 'Pap' is somehow a complete examination of their body), or a thorough battery of basic lab tests (the employer or hospital-owned physician will do a $19.00 "comprehensive panel" that misses 90% of chronic disease, when a $85 one would pick up tons of stuff that might spare them the bypass surgery in five years.

So - yes - starting with the BASICS - a simple but thorough history, physical exam, and appropriate testing, will find most of what needs addressed, then using our Five Tools (Prayer/Meditation, Surgery, Medication, Diet, and Therapy) we can usually help them out.

That's what she said! On a sadder note. A local gunshop near me had its guns stolen. Theives took a ford explorer and rammed a hole in the cinder block wall on the backside of the building. Not sure how many guns were taken. You can see the story on facebook. the shop is JMJ firearms in charlotte hall md. :(

Some boneheads used that ramming technique on our local gun shop with a stolen truck.
I detest thieves, have no tolerance for em.
