the bookcase view for scale. loa is 22". put a field expedient thread protector on the nose. which has a good looking muzzle crown. I could gain an inch or so if I bobbed the barrel closer to the gas block, say a bullet length ahead so i don't short the gas. then if i could find a shorty buffer tube . . . does such a thing exist?

was thinking AR-47 for a name, but there are lots of those around. so i'm thinking something along the lines of DirtyThirty or some such. IDK, names are hard for me.

i'm getting rid of my 300 BodyOdors so I have fewer opportunities to cross feed one with another round. going to standardize the mid bore with the commbloc item.

OK there's a thought. now I'm pondering Dirty Commies OR maybe Marxist Slayer IDK

it's worth doing because it's in my genome to name our weapons. so far it's been like, Fred, and Ted, and Red, and Matilda .. .

i'm so not good at naming weapons.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

thanks for the info Ray, printed that page. I am interested in the lower speed loads in the thirty and the fifty, but shooting factory for now.

I would not want to be inside without earplugs with a 12ga, often touted as the "best" home defense. Or with a 30-30. Or with a .45. Or with anything other than a pellet gun.

Even if the ar was reduced to a semi-bolt gun, it still has 30 to 100 rounds on board... One of my objectives, and one of the main reasons I switched to semiauto arms when I moved to WA from AK, is that I DON'T WANT TO BE THE FIRST ONE TO RUN OUT OF AMMO. And I prefer to still have ammo aboard when the noise subsides.

I have 300 BO, and without earplugs it will hurt the hearing just fine.

I have AR pistols in 4 different calibers, and they all make LOUD noises, AND shooting under a roof there IS a lot of concussion coming back. One of the reasons I took the flash hider off, none of my normal pistols have flash suppressors, or hugh concussions. I'm going to pull the flash hiders off of the pistol uppers just for the fun of it, and the two inch length reduction. then see where it goes from there.

thanks, everyone, for the input

I will say that after playing around with the pistols, the carbines seem like artillary pieces.
