Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

Post by COSteve »

During the recent drought and in concern over the Covid issue, our private range shut down all operations about 1 month ago. Many of us were concerned that it would stay closed until after the Covid issue was resolved which could have meant months to years. However, as it's an outdoor range with firing stations some 8 feet apart, the board attempted to convince Corporate Management that 'Social Distancing' had in fact been the norm since the range first opened way back in 1956. Further, the range rules had already been changed to require that all members wear masks until at the firing lines (fogging shooting glasses issues).

Well, I got an email yesterday proudly announcing that the board's efforts were successful and Corporate agreed that the fire danger had passed and that our Covid safety plan was sound. (No small feat considering all the lawyers who undoubtedly looked over our plan.) So, effective last night, the range is back open with the mask requirement which we were already doing. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

I've already got my truck packed up ready to go this afternoon as I have a couple of rifles with new sights to sight in as well as that 40 Carbine to try the test ammo I made up for it. In addition, I'm packing a few leverguns and SA pistols to just enjoy the afternoon as nothing puts a smile on my face at the range faster than firing my old time levers.
