Cool beans, Lenn. Gonna put in a block of ice and see how long it lasts? Bet it will keep your suds nice and cold!

Thanks Bill, checked it this morning and still at 43 degrees. :)
Added a drip pan under the ice bottles with a tube that goes out the side to catch the condensation from the bottles.

Looks good, and it sounds as if it works. Depending on what happens in about 2 months, it might be handy.

Thanks piller, after learning a little more the ice should be in the top area to work better so we changed that.

Ice boxes similar to that were used for a long time. Not everyone has the talent to make things which work.

Thanks piller, the winter will be the best as ya can fill up several water jugs outside then rotate them from fridg. and back outside.
Summer is the most problem, would have to make a ice house with saw dust in it which can be done.

Very nice. We have an unelectrified cabin up in VT and use an old fashioned ice box much like that, although somewhat more horizontally oriented. We use block ice, so drainage is critical. But once it gets cooled down, it's very effective. Cool project.

Looks good Pitchy! Where did you find those hinges? They look just like the old time ones on my Grandma's ice box.
