DOH !!!

Post by LeverLuvr »

So I bought an Apache gun case from Harbor freight for 2 of my rifles. I spent several hours watching youtube videos on ways to cut foam and how to spray it with Plasti Dip to make the foam more durable and firm. So I carefully traced out my guns and cut them out. Then sprayed the foam adhesive on the back side of the cut foam and meticulously set it in place over the base foam. Perfect! Then proceeded to apply the first coat of Plasti Dip. NOTE TO SELF!!!!!!! DON'T SET THE ADHESIVE CAN AND PLASTI DIP CAN NEXT TO EACH OTHER !!!!! I proceeded to apply a nice coat of adhesive to the foam... DOH!!! So now I just put a couple of decent coats of the Plasti Dip over that in hopes the solvents will bond it all together. I'll let it set for a few hours and see what happens. I respectfully request to nominate myself for the "idiot of the week" award. It will either work out for a better bond, or total destruction of my case foam. If it works out for the best, I'll post a picture to redeem myself. Fingers crossed.

Well, at least the gun wasn't sitting in the foam at the time...

(Gotta look at the bright side. )

If it turns out well, then nothing to worry about. If not, you can buy some similar foam at a craft store.

Don’t know about the adhesive and plastic dip combo but I can attest to the plasti dip thing working well.

The top one is my suppressor case before the plasti dip and the second is my inline muzzleloader box after the plasti dip.

Well, I finally finished the case, and 5 coats of Plasti Dip later, I think the crisis is averted. Going to the range today to get my Tikka sighted in, and see how the Henry does with the TriggerShims I put on the lever. Feels real nice without the slop in it.
